Lake Yojoa, Honduras Water Heart

organization "Geologists World" which along with AMUPROLAGO works in the recovery of Lake Yojoa (Honduras), I commissioned a video tour of the lake and its surroundings, as part of a project to raise awareness and promote the same among Hondurans .


The video is 7 minutes and is about the universe around the lake. In the same I mean the history and cultural heritage and explore the attractions.

Most Hondurans who pass through the Lake Yojoa on busy North Road (Tegucigalpa-San Pedro Sula) know the lake from the road and perhaps from the view of one of their popular fried fish sales. However, the lake is surrounded by many eco-tourism treasures.

I could practice on the lake one of my favorite sports, sailing. The hotel Honduyate has a program to teach sailing nevegar children from nearby communities.

A very important and that all Honduran should know is the "Eco-Archaeological Park " Los Naranjos ", where you can also observe closely the birds that live and spend some time in the lake from a path constructed on the water in which the visitor can observe more closely the vegetation and fauna of the lake.

Algae; pollution as a result of excess nutrients

The lake is suffering from serious pollution problems, an overload of nutrients generated by the excessive growth of algae. Organizations like the Association of Towns for the Protection of Lake Yojoa ( AMUPROLAGO ) are working to regulate and control the sewage and the amount of nutrients generated by the production of tilapia and pollutants discharging rivers that flow into Lake .
